The books listed below are great resources to learn more about negotiation. I found them insightful and detailed in their explanations. The authors cover different aspects of negotiation from tactical emotional intelligence to being comfortable with saying “No” in a respectful manner. Reading these books alone will not make you a master of negotiation until you start putting the ideas in the books into practice.
Never Split the Difference is, in my opinion, the best negotiation book currently on the market. It’s written by a former FBI hostage negotiator which gives the book a lot of credibility. Voss covers a range of topics and provides specific techniques that he’s developed over an entire career that are geared towards handling the emotional aspect of negotiation which most other authors don’t cover in detail.
We have a deal by Natalie Reynolds is an easy read and she provides many small examples and techniques for the reader to implement.
Was there a negotiation book you read that had a big impact in your life?
